Dubai Desert Safari - An Experience

I have always been facinated by Dubai but never had actually liked it once I arrived. The concrete building new shiny roads and heaps of cheap chinese electronic goods all made me feel as if I am in a man made concrete model city.

I was suggested by a friend to take a Safari in the desert commonly known as desert Dune Safari I called up a friend in the travel trade to organise the Safari.

At about 4PM the Safari driver called me and told me that he was waiting for me at the gate of the appartment building I was staying at. I was ready and was actually waiting to be fetched to this so much talked about experience in Dubai. I went down and introduced my self to the friendly iranian Driver who was quite friendly guy. he asked me to Sit in the first seat and we went to a hotel where he had to pick up 3 more tourists. We drove outside Dubiai for a while It was pretty much the same.

Driver made us stop at a coldrink shop where he lowered the air in his tyres there were at least 20 Jeeps parking and doing exactly the same practice all tourists were busy taking some drinks and cookies for the trip.

Minutes later driver cam to us and told us he was ready so were we and we started off Drive made a turn to a smaller road and all of a sudden there was no road we were driving in the sand wow that was first ever natural thing I saw in the desert. We went on the dunes and our Safari driver drove on a tall sand due and Just at the very top he verly relaxinly decended down the steep dune the two ladies behind nearly screemed but it was fun they enjoyed it so did i there were other tactic like driving right on the shoulder of the dune and then making a turn blowing the sand in the air etc.

We stopped at a camel far whach was an other great experience later driver bright us into a cam which was a lot different then the idea of a camp I had it was a settled permanant desert restuarant wat a Dancing podium couches and a Bar a shop etc although not a lot interesting for me but the people had a great time Buffet Dinner was laid and there would be about 150 tourists all lined up with their plates picking up different dishes mostly arabian and Indian as most of the tourists were Indians & iranians aparantly. As the dinner started a russian irl with minimum clothes came on the podiam and performed once again a surprisingly beautiful Arabian dance. Every one enjoyed the dance and music and my mind started thinking about this who scenario as the higlight of any trip to Dubai.

We were asked to be ready in 15 minutes after the dance and driver took us to the hotel first and dropped me off to my home.

Since this Safari I started to like Dubai and It seems to be more of a natural city for me now.

I liked the Sfari so much that I actually started to make a website for Dubai http://www.dubai.travel-culture.com I now sell safaris on that site and enjoy it very much.

Name is Jamal Panhwar Jamal is given name and Panhwar is the family name. I was born and brought up in a small village town of Southeast Pakistan. English had always been my great passion. Since childhood i used to listen to BBC Radio to learn English and by the age of 15 years I started to learn the words and sentences from the BBC English Service soon I was patronized as only person who can speak English in the school and was quite happy about it.

I was heading for becoming a medical doctor but I was dropped due to 2 marks in my 12h standard. I continued the studies and kept studying English however I still wanted to become a Doctor I joined the college for my BSc (Biology) and visited Karachi, the biggest city of Pakistan, a few times. I used to go to American Culture Center and Goethe Institute to practice English and at Goethe Institute I noticed a small piece of Note on the notice board ?If you love your country join us and show your country to other?

I called the person advertising and found that It was a company that organizes tours for foreigners in Pakistan I was thrilled and went to see the office and had a pleasure of meeting Mr. I.R. Kazmi their manager. He was impressed with my English and my Sindhi and village background but it was rough to join a job in Karachi while I was studying in village town hence I requested that I may be called if it was a requirement as a freelance guide.

In 1989 when my studies were nearly over I joined as a Guide and in few years time was promoted as manager but I continued Guiding 1n 1997 I decided to part with the company to struggle more and formed a small company by the name of Travel & Culture which I still manage and still Guide tours.

I was married in 1996 and have 2 Children Jannat (Girl 7 years) & Momin (Boy) 5 years.
