How Bruce Lee Trained In Martial Arts

One of the biggest differences between street-fighting and the hundreds of other fighting disciplines and philosophies...is the way in which we train.

For example, Bruce Lee, the founder of modern day street-fighting, used to train as if he were in a real fight.

He knew, as savvy fighters today know, that what works in one area of combat, can get you crippled or even killed in another.

And so when Bruce and his student Dan Inosanto trained together, it wasn't uncommon for them to use Praying Mantis one moment, then switch to a Savate kick, then to Western Boxing, and end up with a choke on the ground -- all in one sparring session.

Every movement was dictated by what was needed by the moment.

There wasn't a lot of thought or meditation going on. They went with the "flow" so to speak, using what worked best in each specific situation -- just like what happens in an altercation on the street where there are no rules, referees or codes of ethics.

Anything goes and anything can happen.

Which is why if you want to be prepared for a violent altercation on the street, the kind of situation where you very life and long term health are literally on the line, then make sure when you train and spar, you do like Bruce Lee did -- and train like you would fight in a real, life violent street fight.
