Birthday parties are perhaps the favorite and most frequent gathering. No one doubts the benefits to both the guest of honor and the guests of a well planned and successful party. To ensure that those special occasions go as smoothly as possible a few preliminary steps are recommended. First, as with most things in life, organize! Simplify by jotting down a menu, shopping list or guest list or get complicated and hire a party planner. Birthday parties come in all sizes and degrees of complexity make sure that the level of elaboration on this basic party is appropriate to the guest of honor's wishes. Even individuals with high powered stations in life may not appreciate an over blown party and simply opt for a birthday dinner with decorations. Next shopping is in order. Again this needs to be done in an organized manner. Decide where to buy the various items on that list before ever heading out into traffic. Ask whether or not a certain party goods store or bakery has certain items or whether special order time needs to be allowed in a telephone conversation with shops. That will save time and gasoline. Or better yet do your fact gathering online. Grocery stores have websites and some even preset their store cards with coupon specials so that the register automatically gives the discounted price when that card is scanned. The rest is obvious. Throw a birthday party bash! Make some sort of birthday invitations to the guests. This could be done by telephone, mail or in person. It can be a casual notification of cake and coffee during break or a formal invitation to a black tie occasion. Entertain the guests once they have arrived. Starting the chorus of Happy Birthday can be enough. Sometimes though more elaborate entertainment is warranted. |
