The Pomeranian is a small and a sturdy dog. This highly active and lovable dog is liked for its smiling and lovable demeanor. This is one of the smaller breeds of dogs and it usually weighs around 4 to 6 pounds.

The Pomeranian has two coats of hair, one on the exterior which is long and fluffy and one in the interior which is very soft. The Pomeranian is a very active and intelligent dog. This breed is preferred by many as pets and is generally seen in large numbers at dog shows.

This cute breed love company. So it is always seen with one or the other member of a family. This breed needs to be house trained and it is also quite intelligent in doing other works like guarding and fetching.

Training a Pomeranian is not very difficult. Start training this dog when it is very young. The reward method is the best form of training for this small dog. This breed tends to get distracted easily; therefore it is important to se that it is at a secluded place when being trained.

The training should be held at the same place regularly. The dog should be taught to relieve itself at a particular place every day. This breed like other breeds will listen and obey the commands of its master. However the key to training is interaction. Therefore it is important to talk to the dog as much as possible. Physical contact like petting and hugging will also go a long way in building a rapport between you and your pet.

The dog needs to be trained in private and once it has learnt a few tricks it can be taken to a public place like the park and trained once again. This will enable the dog to obey you commands both in private and also in a public place where there are a large number of dogs and people.

A Pomeranian makes a good pet both as a companion and also as a good watchdog. It will guard your house and make loud noise if it finds a stranger or something fishy. This small bred of dog is ideal for people who live in flats or small apartments and also where there is plenty of space.

So go in for this particular breed if you want a small pet which not only gives you company but also takes of your house when you are away. Just remember that this dog loves company, therefore it would be cruel to keep it isolated for long hours.
