A Yummy Little Appetizer

Try out this fantastic little Appetizer that's sure to be a hit with everyone that tastes it! I've personally used this recipe at the last handful of parties I've thrown and I can never seem to make enough. I think your guests will be pleasantly surprised.

Bacon-Wrapped Water Chestnuts or Dates

Canned water chestnuts
Soy sauce
Granulated sugar
Bacon

Drain the water chestnuts. Place in a small plastic bag, pour in enough soy sauce to cover the chestnuts, tightly close bag, and marinate about one hour. Ziploc bags work the best for this.

Drain off excess soy sauce. Roll or shake the chestnuts in sugar. Cut the bacon into three strips lengthwise. (If bacon is very long, then cut the strips in half.) Wrap one strip of bacon around each chestnut and hold them together with a wooden toothpick. Place appetizers on baking pan and bake on the middle rack. Bake at 350 to 400 degrees F until bacon is crisp, usually about 15 to 20 minutes.

Leave the wooden toothpicks in the chestnuts when serving. You can chill and reheat this dish. If substituting Bacon-Wrapped Dates for the Chestnuts,: Remove pits from dates, wrap with bacon and bake as above
